CHANGE THE CONVERSATION

CHANGE THE CONVERSATION

ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAYS TO CREATE A HAPPY, HEALTHY HOME ENVIRONMENT IS DIRECTING CONVERSATIONS IN A HAPPY, HEALTHY DIRECTION.

Conversations take us places! They make us feel things, see images in our minds, and seemingly force us to draw conclusions. Conversations can cause misunderstandings and conflict, worry, anger or regret! Or, they can bring peace, unity, understanding, compassion & purpose.

Choosing what we want to talk about on any given day is crucial. For a parent, here are a few basics:

Today I want to speak words of gratitude and have conversations about the blessings in our lives,

Today I want to express over and over my love for every family member in my home, and have conversations revolving around how special, gifted and amazing they are.

Today I want our conversations to be filled will compassion, faith, patience and purpose. I want to talk about ways we can encourage & help others.

Today I want to laugh and enjoy my family as I ask them fun questions and listen to their stories!

I wrote a song for my grandkids that says “Happiness is a habit and I choose Happy!” I am convinced that children (and adults!) develop an appetite for what they want to talk about!

Ever been with someone “addicted” to worry? Or gossip? Or self-pity? Their conversations always end in the same TOXIC EMOTIONS.

Our homes should be the birthing place of positive, Godly, healthy APPETITES, on every level! As adults, we can NURTURE our families appetites, especially in the area of our conversations!

There is a wonderful formula for great conversations in the Bible (Philippians 4:8) that says “whatever is TRUE, NOBLE, RIGHT, PURE, LOVELY, ADMIRABLE… if it is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY, think about these things” (or TALK ABOUT THEM!)!

And the result? “... And the GOD OF PEACE WILL BE WITH YOU!” I want my home to be FILLED WITH PEACE!! We all want our children and families to live at peace with themselves and one another, right?

I certainly don’t want to let the television, iPhones or outside influences create the heartbeat of my family’s dialogue together!

So, may we choose the direction of the dialogue in our home. And when it goes the wrong direction, may we intentionally, consistently and effectively CHANGE THE CONVERSATION! A little mercy, kindness and good expectations go along way.

The Good News? There are always great things to talk about, super things to be thankful for, and wonderful things to learn or experience!

Get ready! You’re headed in the right direction!!!❤️

Never Give Up!
